‘Reflection’ highlights the work of 22 edinburgh based artists and maker who over the past 10 years have benefitted from funding from the City of Edinburgh Councils Craft Maker Awards and Visual Art Awards since the year 2000.

For the exhibition I have re-visited an instalation piece from when I was first granted EMA funding in 2007. ‘Memoria; 100 Cups of Tea, Never to Be’  highlights the sadness of a beautiful object that has been broken. A shattered gold tea pot lies below while it’s soul leaves its broken vessel in the form of 100 ghostly porcelain winged tea cups. For this exhibition I have developed ‘Memoria’ into a light installation. A faint glow from within will enhance the ghostly presence of each angelic winged tea cup. See more *here*.

I will also be showing two pieces from my more recent ‘Eat Me; Keep Me’ range of slip cast and iced figurative porcelain constructions. The series focuses on the notion of self indulgence. In exploring the parallels between ‘valuable’ and ‘everyday’ I have drawn a symmetry of opposites between porcelain and confectionary items; both are similarly self indulgent, inspire desire and are coveted, but both are fundamentally frivolous. Found objects and fruits are cast in subtly stained porcelain, and details are delicately added using an icing bag. In ‘Dirty Rotten Peaches’ the innocent fruits transform tantalisingly into voluptuous little ladies bottoms sprouting delicate gold leaves and other unmentionable things.
